ASM journals use Copyright Clearance Center Marketplace (CCC) to help users secure permission to reuse content published in ASM journals.
To make the process as easy as possible and to confirm that permission is required, we suggest:
ASM asks that all requestors make a good faith effort to secure permission from the authors. When ASM journal content is reused, credit should be given to the author and journal where the figure/table/content originally appeared.
The easiest way to submit a permissions request via the ASM Journals website is to search for the ASM journal content you would like to reuse and then click on the "Request Permissions" link in the information tab (see the information icon in the screenshot below).

If you are looking for a type of reuse that is not listed, select the “I don't see my intended use” option and outline your requirements. Please outline the part(s) of the article you wish to reuse (e.g., images, abstract, etc.) and how you intend to reuse the material (e.g., in a presentation, on a website, in your thesis/dissertation, etc.). The initial response time to most requests is 48 hours.
CCC manages commercial reprint and eprint orders of content published in American Society for Microbiology (ASM) journals.
Companies/organizations interested in purchasing ASM journal article reprints or eprints should email [email protected] with the specifications. CCC’s Reprints/Eprints Services team will typically provide a quote the same day.
