To allow for maximum dissemination of research, ASM open access articles are currently published under the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license, which allows unrestricted reuse of the material with proper attribution. Users have the right to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles. mBio®, Microbiology Resource Announcements (MRA), mSphere®, and mSystems® are open access journals; every article published in them is covered by this license.
Authors who publish in AAC, AEM, IAI, JB, JCM, JVI, and MCB have the option to publish their article as open access; in this case the article will be covered by the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license.
