PUBLISH  AHEAD  OF  PRINT

For its primary-research journals, ASM posts online PDF versions of manuscripts that have been peer reviewed and accepted but not yet copyedited.  This feature is called  “[journal acronym] Accepts” (e.g.,“JB Accepts”) and is accessible from the Journals website.  The manuscripts are published online as soon as possible after acceptance, on a weekly basis, before the copyedited, typeset articles are published.  They are posted “as is” (i.e., as submitted by the authors at the modification stage), and do not reflect ASM editorial changes.  No corrections/changes to the PDF manuscripts are accepted. Accordingly, there likely will be differences between the Accepts manuscripts and the final, typeset articles.  The manuscripts remain listed on the Accepts page until the final, typeset articles are posted. At that point, the manuscripts are removed from the Accepts page and become available only through links from the final, typeset articles.  The manuscripts are under subscription access control until 4 months after the typeset articles are posted, when free access is provided to everyone (subject to the applicable ASM license terms and conditions).  Supplemental material intended, and accepted, for publication is not posted until publication of the final, typeset articles.
